I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
This is one of the most diffiuclt books I've had to rate ... I'm ultimately going with a 2 because I just can't say that I really liked it it. I see it's merits clearly but I can't say that it worked for me overall. Was it suspenseful? YES. Was it intriguing? YES. But did it wow me, nope.
I was definitely on the edge of my seat but I was also terribly confused .. I had a hard time really assessing how the book made me feel given all of the conflicting emotions. I kept wondering where it was going and what the point was. After finishing, I understand the reasons for the conflicting emotions but I'm not sure it was enough for me. Very creepy but also so confusing. I'm not sure what else to say about this one. It's a quick read which was nice but I just don't think it was as impactful as it could have been based on the lead up and such.
If you like suspense and don't mind not knowing what's going on for most of a book, this one might be right up your alley. I'm glad I gave it a shot but I don't love it. It was ok. Nothing more, nothing less. Just ok.
